The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to restrain a significant Russian contingent in the Kursk region, with more than 40,000 Russian troops currently stationed there.
This was reported by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group on his Telegram channel.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the Kursk operation, the occupiers have suffered total losses of around 21,000 personnel (killed, wounded, and captured).
The expert reminded that the Russian counteroffensive in the Kursk region, which began on September 10, has not yielded significant results, and Ukraine continues to control approximately 950 km², which accounts for over 75% of the original control area.
Additionally, Alexander Kovalenko noted that the command of the Russian occupation forces is intensively redeploying North Korean military personnel to the Kursk region, and it is likely that all 12,000 brought from North Korea in the first batch will be sent there.
According to the military analyst, the withdrawal of the Ukrainian contingent from the Kursk region will only occur when the control situation becomes critically unfavorable, and the withdrawal plan in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has evidently been in place from the beginning.
"In other words, the exit plan has always existed, but why it is now receiving so much attention, given the absence of a critical situation for the SOU in the Kursk region – I do not know," – added Alexander Kovalenko.
