Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Trump's statements regarding potential agreements with Ukraine for the supply of rare earth metals in exchange for U.S. aid. Ukraine is open to American investments in this area.
The president made this remark during a press conference with the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that attracting foreign investments in the mining sector is one of the points of the Victory Plan.
"You see that Russia has occupied our lands since 2014, and indeed, there were significant volumes of our natural resources there. We are open to the idea that all of this can be developed with our partners, who are helping us protect our land and pushing the enemy back with their weapons, their presence, and sanctions packages," the president said. He mentioned that he discussed this matter with Donald Trump during their meeting in September.
"I told him that we are open to American companies coming in for investments," Zelensky added. He warned that if natural resources are controlled by Russia, there is a risk that other countries, such as Iran or Korea, might intervene.
