President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that he has changed the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: General Major Mykhailo Drapaty has been appointed in place of Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk.

"The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state," the president stated.

According to the president's message, General Major Drapaty successfully organized the defense in the Kharkiv direction and thwarted the offensive operation of Russian forces. Colonel Oleg Apostol is an experienced commander of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade.

"Both have proven their effectiveness in combat," the president emphasized.

These personnel decisions became known during the meeting of the Commander-in-Chief's Staff, the message stated. The main topic of the meeting was the energy situation, addressing the aftermath of Russian strikes, and the protection of facilities, the president said.

He noted that all responsible leaders and commanders reported on the situation. Recovery work is currently underway in the regions.
