The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed former MP from the "Fatherland" party, Aliona Shkrum, as the First Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development, Alexey Kuleba.
This was reported by the Government's Permanent Representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
On December 2, Shkrum announced that she had submitted her resignation. On December 3, the deputies of the Rada supported her dismissal. Another deputy appointed alongside Kuleba is Konstantin Kovalchuk. According to his declaration, he worked at "Ukrtransgaz," while his wife is employed at the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Hryhoriy Ishchenko is the new head of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Management of the Exclusion Zone. Prior to this, he worked at "Energoatom."
The newly appointed Deputy State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, Vitaliy Chaplia, is from the State Border Service. At the end of April 2024, President Zelensky elevated Chaplia's rank from colonel to brigadier general through a decree.
The government has also introduced a new position – Government Commissioner for Customs Reform. The role has been assigned to the CEO of "Ukrposhta," Ihor Smiliansky. He informed that he will not be stepping down from his CEO position and will lead the customs reform headquarters on a voluntary basis. Smiliansky added that this appointment was not his initiative.
Background. Previously, Mind reported that the government renamed the Ministry of Reintegration to the Ministry of National Unity. It is headed by former head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov. The decision on the appointment was adopted by the Rada on December 3.
