In the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina lost to American Madison Keys.
For the seasoned Svitolina, this was an opportunity to reach the semifinals of an Australian Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career.
Although the match against Keys started quite well for Svitolina – she won the first set by converting her first break point of the match – the second set unfolded differently. In this set, the American managed to win one game on Svitolina's serve while winning all her own games.
The situation was similar in the third set. Moreover, the girls combined earned only two break points throughout the entire set, both of which were for Keys in the fifth game, and she converted the second one. On her serve, she gave Svitolina no chances at all.
