The Swiss Foreign Ministry has announced its readiness to organize a summit between Donald Trump and Putin, should both parties express interest.
This was reported by the Tages-Anzeiger, referencing Le Temps.
“Following the summit in Bürgenstock, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States have been regularly informed of our willingness to support diplomatic efforts for peace,” said Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nicolas Bideau.
The ministry added that the arrest warrant for the Russian dictator issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) would not hinder the organization of negotiations. According to Bideau, the government could make an exception for peace talks.
At the same time, the country's authorities do not intend to take the initiative and will only organize such a meeting if requested.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Trump plans to meet with Putin to discuss options for ending the war in Ukraine. The day before, Volodymyr Zelensky stated in Lex Friedman’s podcast that negotiations with Russia are only possible after his meeting with Trump.
