The United States has released intelligence data indicating that North Korea is preparing additional arms shipments to Russia to support its war against Ukraine.
Robert Wood, the U.S. Deputy Ambassador to the UN, shared this information during a UN Security Council meeting, emphasizing the urgent need to take action regarding these developments, as reported by united24media.com.
“North Korea is preparing to deliver even more ballistic missiles. We also have information that a significant number of 170-mm self-propelled artillery systems and 240-mm long-range multiple launch rocket systems produced by North Korea are being introduced into the conflict,” Wood stated.
According to the diplomat, North Korea has already supplied Russia with over 18,000 containers of ammunition and related equipment, as well as more than 100 ballistic missiles that have been used to strike Ukrainian cities.
It has been reported that in exchange for this weaponry, Russia has provided North Korea with air defense systems, fuel, military, and other equipment.
Wood highlighted China's critical role in restraining North Korea.
“China has both influence and potential when it comes to North Korea, and it must urgently use this influence to prevent further escalation of the conflict,” he stated.
Earlier, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting in response to recent attacks by Russia on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
It has also been revealed that Pyongyang has sent over 10,000 troops to assist Russia in the war, with the first clashes with Ukrainian forces already recorded in the Kursk region. North Korea has also become a major supplier of artillery shells and ballistic missiles for Moscow.
As reported, satellite imagery has shown analysts that North Korea is expanding its ballistic missile production facility. The “Factory No. 11” in eastern North Korea is part of the Ryongsong complex and produces Hwasong-11 (KN-23) class ballistic missiles. A new complex and housing facilities are being constructed on the site of the enterprise.
