The Finnish defense group Summa Defense Oy, in collaboration with its Ukrainian partners, is establishing a drone manufacturing enterprise in Finland.

This is mentioned in the company's press release.

“The demand for drone technologies and manufacturing capabilities is significant. The drones will be supplied not only to Ukraine but also to EU and NATO countries. Drones will become an integral part of society, ensuring the protection of critical functions in areas such as security, defense, and other sectors,” stated the company's CEO, Jussi Holopainen.

According to him, the production of drones is planned to commence in early 2025.

It is anticipated that Summa Defence will establish a subsidiary called Summa Drones, which will open the facility in Finland together with Ukrainian partners.

In the future, Summa Drones will manufacture not only aerial vehicles but also ground and maritime drones, the press service explained.

“Through this joint venture, the drones in Summa Defence's product portfolio have already demonstrated their importance and strategic significance in Ukraine.

Drones play a crucial role in protecting critical infrastructure as well as in emergency and rescue operations. Relocating production to Finland will enhance the reliability of supplies to both Ukraine and other international regions,” added Holopainen.

The press service emphasized that Summa Defence is currently finalizing negotiations to acquire several companies in the security and defense technology sectors.
