The Verkhovna Rada has made a decision to appoint Oleksii Chernyshov as the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. A total of 237 deputies voted in favor.
This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
As a reminder, the creation of the new ministry was announced by President Zelensky in August. At that time, the final name had not yet been established, but it was noted that this state institution would unite Ukrainians abroad, counter Russian narratives, protect the interests of Ukrainians, and facilitate their return.
"Ukraine needs institutional strengthening of its policy concerning Ukrainians abroad, regarding our people from all waves of migration. We must establish a central executive authority – the Ministry of Uniting Ukrainians, which will focus on the issues of the global multi-million Ukrainian community – not as part of other matters, but specifically," he stated later.
