Билл Гейтс поделился впечатлениями о встрече с Трампом: «Я поражён».

American billionaire and philanthropist, Microsoft founder Bill Gates shared in an interview with The Wall Street Journal about his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

He stated that he was impressed by Trump's interest in innovations within the global healthcare sector.

During their three-hour dinner, they discussed potential efforts to eradicate polio and develop treatments for HIV, which, according to Gates, sparked great enthusiasm in Trump.

The philanthropist emphasized that Trump showed a willingness to support innovations and contribute to advancements in these fields over the next four years.

«We touched on a lot of topics. It took over three hours, to my surprise. It was just him, me, his chief of staff Suzy Wiles, and my assistant Larry Cohen. The conversation was very diverse. Global health is the area where I work, and where so many amazing things are happening. We talked a lot about HIV and how (my) foundation is literally working on a cure for it; we are in the early stages. During the COVID times, he (Trump) accelerated vaccine innovations, so I asked him if something similar could be done here. And he was very interested in that. We also talked about polio; I explained why it has been so challenging in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gaza, and Africa. He was curious to hear what he could do to help,» said Gates.

Background. Recall that in May 2024, following her divorce, Melinda Gates left the Gates Foundation, receiving $12.5 billion for her projects. After her departure as co-chair, the foundation changed its name to the Gates Foundation, and Bill Gates became its sole chair.
