The Ukrainian platform for hiring IT specialists, YouTeam, has been acquired by the American freelancing service Toptal.
This was announced by YouTeam co-founder Yuriy Rifiak on LinkedIn.
The parties have not disclosed the amount of the deal.
"YouTeam is now part of Toptal. This means you will have access to Toptal's talent network and recruitment services. Additionally, you will receive flexible hiring options for individuals or teams, managed services, and consulting. This is on top of all the features and services YouTeam offers," it states on the YouTeam website.
YouTeam positions itself as a marketplace for "renting" software developers in Eastern Europe and Latin America for medium to long-term projects. The startup was founded by Ukrainians Anton Mishchenko, Yuriy Rifiak, and Mykyta Voloshyn in 2014. According to the team, the startup surpassed the $1 million sales mark within two years of operation.
"With us, any company can find the right team of developers within 48 hours and hire them to start project creation next week," the company stated.
The team attracted investments from Ukrainian funds Digital Future and U.Ventures. In 2018, the startup entered Y Combinator, securing $120,000 in investment for 7% equity in the company. Over its lifetime, YouTeam has raised more than $765,000 in investments.
At the time of the acquisition, YouTeam employed 35 specialists. The company has over 250 clients, including two from the Fortune 1000 list and more than 50 companies from the Y Combinator portfolio, according to data on the startup's website.
