Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome.
According to the press service of the Ukrainian president, one of the key topics of the meeting was the enhancement of Ukraine's air defense systems.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the Italian government for approving the tenth package of military assistance.
“We are now looking to expedite certain details of this package. We have semi-Italian and semi-French SAMP/T air defense systems. The quantity of missiles is very important to us, and we are counting on it. There is a corresponding package of missiles that we are receiving, and there is another package that needs to be finalized so that it reaches us,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president also highlighted the active efforts underway for the preparation of the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC-2025), which will take place on July 10-11 in Rome.
“Our teams have begun working on this year's conference regarding reconstruction. Particularly concerning cultural heritage. Here, we are primarily counting on Italy. We are also collaborating with UNESCO and will additionally work with France. I want Italy to make a significant contribution to the reconstruction of our historical heritage. They are very skilled in this area,” the president emphasized.
The leaders of the two countries also discussed support for Ukraine's path towards EU membership.
