The government has made the decision to rename the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories to the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this information.
“Today, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksii Chernyshov as Vice Prime Minister – Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. The government, for its part, has decided to rename the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories to the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine,” he stated.
According to Shmyhal, this institutional enhancement will help establish a new quality of work and interaction with the millions-strong Ukrainian community from all waves of migration.
“The creation of the Ministry of National Unity will also facilitate the development of a strategy on how to encourage Ukrainians to return to live and work in Ukraine,” the head of government emphasized.
He also mentioned that the new Vice Prime Minister is expected to present a clear plan for the development of the ministry, the team, and the main KPIs in the near future.
Recall that the establishment of this new ministry was announced by President Zelensky in August. At that time, there was still no final name, but it was noted that this state institution would unite Ukrainians abroad, counter Russian narratives, protect the interests of Ukrainians, and promote their return.
