The esports club NaVi has announced the launch of its chess division and the signing of three grandmasters.
The newcomers to the Ukrainian club include 20-year-old Uzbek Nodirbek Abdusattorov (#6 in the world ranking), 31-year-old American Wesley So (#11), and 28-year-old Ukrainian Oleksandr Bortnyk (#166).
Tomorrow, February 16, the first of two online championships, the Chessable Masters, will kick off with a prize pool of $150,000, where the players will represent the colors of "Born to Win."
The second tournament in this series will take place in mid-May.
Based on the tournament results, the top 12 players in the rankings will compete in the series final, which will be held as part of the Esports World Cup festival in Saudi Arabia, with a prize pool of $1,500,000.
