The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved the supply of the domestic-made “Shchedryk” unmanned aerial system for the Armed Forces.

This was reported by the ministry's press service.

The system consists of a control station and remotely piloted aircraft. The drones are equipped with silent electric motors and have enhanced resistance to electronic warfare, according to the announcement.

The drone is named after the popular Ukrainian Christmas song, known in the West as Carol of the Bells, composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in what is now Vinnytsia Oblast. The ministry's approval came on Christmas Day.

Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klymenko reported this.

“The capabilities of the aircraft and its optical equipment allow for operations from altitudes unreachable by most enemy air defense systems.”

The aircraft can perform tasks in strong winds, frosty conditions, and heat, the ministry added.

Previously, media wrote that a drone named “Shchedryk” was developed in Vinnytsia. Its developers described the unmanned device as unique – ultra-light yet powerful. The drone can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h and penetrate enemy territory up to 40 km deep. It is designed for target correction and can be operated from cover.
