In the Pechersk Court of Kyiv, a preventive measure has been chosen for General Yuriy Halushkin and Colonel Illia Lapin. They are suspected of inadequate defense of Kharkiv region during the renewed Russian offensive in May 2024.
This was reported by Suspilne.
Both hearings were held behind closed doors. Lapin has been remanded in custody for 60 days. His lawyer stated that he would file an appeal.
The prosecutor requested that Yuriy Halushkin also be taken into custody. The court partially granted the prosecution's request, remanding the general in custody for 60 days with the possibility of posting bail of 5 million UAH.
Remember: On January 20, law enforcement officers detained Brigadier General Yuriy Halushkin, Lieutenant General Artur Horbenko, and Colonel Illia Lapin. According to the State Bureau of Investigations, due to the negligence of the military, the Russians managed to seize part of the territory of the Lypetska rural territorial community in Kharkiv region in May of last year. The commanders' actions also resulted in losses of personnel and equipment, undermining defense measures along the state border in their area of responsibility.
