Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged allies to urgently provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems to enhance energy resilience during the winter.

He made this statement during his visit to Brussels, reports the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Ukraine urgently requires the supply of at least 20 additional air defense systems such as Hawk, NASAMS, or IRIS-T. This will help prevent blackouts,” Sybiha emphasized.

The minister showcased the original Budapest Memorandum and stressed that it serves as evidence that any long-term security solutions at the expense of Ukraine's security are unacceptable.

“Today marks 30 years since this document was signed. This paper has failed to ensure Ukrainian and transatlantic security. We must avoid repeating such mistakes. In this context, we will discuss the concept of ‘peace through strength’ with our partners,” the Foreign Minister concluded.

Sybiha has already visited NATO headquarters and will also participate in the ministerial meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that on December 3, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that Ukraine will not consider security guarantees alternative to NATO membership.
