The Security Service of Ukraine has announced the arrest of the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is suspected of illicit enrichment amounting to $1 million during the full-scale war with Russia.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The detained individual holds the position of deputy head of the Central Military Medical Commission (VLC) and is responsible for making decisions regarding the fitness of military personnel for service.
According to investigation materials, the suspect acquired unjustified assets worth over $1 million during the full-scale war with Russia. He did not declare this property and registered it under the names of family members and other individuals.
Among the assets acquired by the suspect are a private house in the Obukhiv district of Kyiv region, two apartments in Kyiv, an apartment in Odesa, two plots of land in the Obukhiv district, as well as several BMW vehicles (models X7 2022, X7 2024, X5 2023, X3 2022). During searches of his residence, $152,000 and €34,000 were found.
The suspect is currently being prepared for charges under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure and imposing a freeze on the detained individual's assets is being resolved. The sanctions of the articles provide for penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
